IN THEIR HANDS, a campaign where videos of children's book authors reading their books are posted on Facebook for all to enjoy.
Where did the idea for this venture come from? How did this journey get started?
It was jumpstarted with a letter and snowballed from the generosity of others.

Here is a copy of the letter that started it all.
A few weeks ago, I was walking out of my kitchen and had an idea. I’m excited to share it with you.
My heart is to get a book in the hands of children all over the world. I thought “I may not be able to get a book in their hands for them to read, but what if I could get a book to them in another way? What if I could read the book to them instead?”
Thus, was born In Their Hands, a project to get books/stories in the hands of children by reading the books to the children.
No better time to kick off the project than October, National Reading Month.
I cannot do this alone. Will you join me and donate your time for one night?
I have created a Facebook page called, “In Their Hands.” The idea is to have an author read from his/her children’s book each night through the month of October. I need children authors to videotape themselves reading their books and send the video to me.
Each day by 10:00 am a new video would be posted to the Facebook page. Anyone can be invited to listen to the videos. Parents/grandparents/aunts/uncles/caregivers will be encouraged to listen to the stories with their child/children/grandchildren/nieces/nephews.
I would like to run a giveaway each day for the book-of-the-day. On the day your video first posts, any child who accesses the Facebook pages and listens to your story would have a chance to win a copy of your book. We would randomly pick the child and provide you with their mailing address.
I’m creating information that can be posted on your media sites and will forward it later this month.
So, what would be asked of you?
Commit to doing a video on Zoom.
Provide a bio to post along with your contact information and photo.
Help to publicize the project
Provide the title of the book(s) you will be reading. (If the book is short, you could read more than one.)
